How to Restore Dull or Faded Paintwork
Age, oxidisation, lack of protective polish or wax and the weather all contribute to the dulling and fading of paintwork over time. The result is a flat, lifeless finish that won’t shine.
G3 Pro has a number of restoration products that contain lighter abrasives designed to bring life back to faded paintwork; both by hand (via G3 Pro All-in-One Polish or G3 Pro Colour Restorer) or by machine (with a Dual Action Polishing Machine, G3 Pro D.A. Fine Polish and a Foam Polishing Pad) - removing oxidation, swirls, holograms and minor defects
Before Polishing: Clean
Before doing any form of paint rectification, it's important to ensure the surface is sufficiently clean of any dirt or contaminants; we recommend you follow our best practice guide to Safely and Effectively Clean Paintwork before following this guide - Snow Foam followed by Shampoo application with the "Two Bucket" Car Wash Method will lift harmful contaminants and allow you to properly assess the surface condition.
Restore ...by Hand
G3 Pro All-in-One Polish - a light abrasive polish designed to restore oxidised surfaces, remove holograms, minor defects and swirls - is the most versatile; capable of being used by hand or machine and offering a slightly more coarse abrasive than G3 Pro Colour Restorer.
G3 Pro Colour Restorer is a great alternative for those on a tighter budget or for those following on from using a coarser product like Scratch Remover having removed defects.
Both products can be applied with either a soft microfibre cloth or the black G3 Pro Applicator Waffle Pad.
Restore ...by Machine
For best results, Farécla recommend the use of G3 Pro D.A. Fine Polish with G3 Pro Foam Polishing Pad on a G Plus Dual Action Polishing Machine to restore dull, oxidised or faded surfaces.
This combination glides over the surface making restoration less labour intensive, faster and more effective.
DID YOU KNOW? G3 Pro All-in-One Polish is not only a great product by hand... it can also be used with a Dual Action or Rotary Polishing Machine! We recommend using with a Dual Action polisher with a foam polishing pad at 3500 opm.
Finish... with a wax
Once restored, you'll want to protect and maintain your newly restored finish with a wax
The G3 Pro range includes 3 different waxes which vary in ease of application and degree of protection required:
