Detailing a Porsche...tractor?
You've probably heard of Lamborghini tractors, but have you heard of Porsche tractors? Ferdinand Porsche started work on a Volksschlepper, or people's tractor, in 1937, with the range of air cooled, diesel tractors being manufactured from the 50s to early 60s.
The owner of this particular example of classic Porsche-Diesel Junior 109, imported it from France in original condition. With a brief to make the most of the original finish, preserving the patina from a near 60 year history, we settled down for a thorough decontamination to remove the build up of mud, oil, diesel and everything else that farm life can throw at a tractor! Once the grime had been removed, an extensive machine polish using the G360 Super Fast System removed the oxidation and restored gloss.
The Process
G3 Pro Snow Foam Plus
We opted for the deeper cleaning G3 Pro Snow Foam Plus, to start softening the years of build up without touching the surface.
G3 Pro Wash & Wax
With the pre-clean done, the Porsche tractor was treated to a two bucket wash using a G3 Pro Lambs Wool Wash Mitt and G3 Pro Wash & Wax to gently remove dirt left sitting on the surface.
G3 Pro Multicleaner
We could now see what areas needed further focus and decontamination. Armed with G3 Pro Multicleaner in one hand and detailing brushes in the other, it was time to get to work on all the nooks and crannies - from pedals to engine components - grime and oil was breaking down in front of our eyes.
G360 Super Fast System
Using the G360 Super Fast Compound on a G Mop Flexible Yellow Compounding Foam. Due to the age, and in some places lack, of paint we skipped the more aggressive cut of the Super High Cut Pad. The tractor turned from a dull, dusty red, to the bright Karminrot from the factory.
G3 Pro SuperGloss Paste Wax
For final gloss and protection of the surface, our G3 Pro SuperGloss Paste Wax was applied.
