How to Protect a Painted Boat Finish

Buff off wax from boat hull with cloth

Sunlight reflecting off the water means double exposure of your boat's paintwork to harmful ultraviolet rays, so it's important to use a wax that contains UV inhibitors.
For large areas the recommendation is Profile Polymer UV Wax applied by machine.
If you are working by hand use Profile UV Wax

Option 1: Applying Boat Wax with a Polishing Machine

  • Holding out Profile Polymer UV Wax

Step 1: Profile Polymer UV Wax

Make sure the surface is clean, dry and cool to the touch. Shake well before use.
  • Applying wax to boat hull with G Mop Black Finishing Foam

Step 2: Apply wax to the boat

Spread the wax on the surface and polish it with a rotating eccentric polisher at 800-1100 rpm. Work in small areas and keep the applicator flat on the surface.
