Three men. Eleven rounds of racing. More than 1,500 miles.
Throughout a season of highly competitive motorsport, it has been drama, stress and high fives abound for the newly formed Team G3 as they raced tenaciously for a podium finish. In this article, Matt Hale shares his thoughts on his team’s performance as well as the highs and lows of their Club 100 experience so far.
It’s fair to say that we faced a lot of different challenges this year – and two races in particular really stick out for us. The first being Round 3 at Rye House, where we were cruelly robbed of a stab at 1st place in the dying laps; and the second being Round 6 at Whilton Mill when we suffered from mechanical failure and lost our 2nd place positioning.
However, with positivity and motivation – and irony for good measure – these very tracks also provided two of our best performances! Our second time at Whilton Mill (Round 9) was where we’d achieved our best finish of the season to date (4th place), before we brought it home in the Finals at Rye House with a 3rd place podium! As always, we’ve captured the highlights from this race on our on-board head cams, so check out our best performance (we saved it til’ last) on our video here.
We started the season feeling motivated, hopeful, and prepared, probably the same as all of the competitors. Now, 11 rounds later, we look back knowing we have improved massively as a team in terms of tactics and driver skill. It was a year of learning in a fiercely competitive and talented field, which we will build on for next season.
We’d like to finish off by thanking our sponsors, G3 Pro, for allowing us the opportunity to fly the flag for the brand; our supporters, for turning out to races & following us online; our fellow competitors for the challenge and camaraderie; and our families – some of whom have been around the country in all weather conditions, putting up with the lingering smell of petrol and the seemingly endless talk about our lives on four wheels.
See you in 2014 for next year’s championship!
