As TeamHARD approach the final round of this year’s British Touring Car Championship, the semi-finals at Silverstone saw the remaining G3 Pro sponsored drivers battle for position on the grid.
Stepping into Tom Onslow-Cole’s shoes, Moffat was in the VW Passat for his first race weekend under TeamHARD. Throughout Qualifying and Race 1, we saw Moffat getting to grips with his new race setup and coming 23rd and 21st.
However, it was in Race 2 when he showed off his race ability. Moffat worked his way steadily up the grid, and after a long battle with Nick Foster managed an amazing 14th place! Matt Hale, lead racer of the Team G3 go-karting team, sends his praise to the young driver: “Moffat raced really well over the weekend. Considering he is a newcomer to the BTCC, 14th place is fantastic!”
It seemed as though the gloves were off for the final race, leading to several on track collisions. Although Moffat came out unscathed, he lost his position as he tried to avoid the crashes and came 19th in the end.
Howard Fuller was in the Vauxhall Insignia and had an action-packed weekend from the start of Race 1! After qualifying in 16th, he was involved in a number of battles with his competitors; in particular with Jeff Smith from Pirtek Racing and former TeamHARD team-member Tom Onslow-Cole! This race also saw Fuller in a number of collisions, with one even throwing him off track. He came 17th.
Race 2 was less eventful and he managed to stay out of trouble, allowing him to progress up the grid for a great finishing result in 11th position! Unfortunately, with the same on-track mess to avoid as Moffat in Race 3, Fuller slipped back and finished the weekend in 15th.
Again, Team G3’s Matt Hale comments: “Howard Fuller was extremely entertaining and displayed some awesome car control whilst racing alongside Jack Goff. He certainly tackled one of the corners in one of the more interesting ways – that being sideways! So it may not have been the fastest line to take, but it was definitely the coolest to watch!”
The final BTCC race weekend is now only 1 week away! TeamHARD are preparing furiously and G3 Pro will be supporting them all the way!
