Round 5 Preview
Pigeon racing, but not as you know it…
It’s nearly time for Race 5 and the quest for greatness by Team G3 in the Club 100 championships.
Saturday (June 15) will see Matt, Barry and Stewart travelling south-west to Clay Pigeon. A bright day with good conditions is on the cards – and the team are more hopeful that their kart is not blighted by mechanical problems as was the case back at Ellough Park a few weeks ago.
Having risen up the leader board from a respectable 10th place to their highest position of fifth within three races, Team G3 found themselves battling for position after an uncooperative exhaust manifold decided it would snap forcing them to bring out a new kart with just 20 laps to go! Here are the Round 4 race highlights.
Team G3 are really confident in their race strategy going into Clay; Matt is familiar with the circuit and it’s one of the more straightforward tracks of the series for new teams and the class of kart.
But they won’t be forgetting that often-heard, not-so-often used ‘prevention is better than cure’ approach. The team learnt a valuable lesson last week: that the kart needs to be well tested early in the day to prevent problems occurring later on. Hopefully they will not be following in Dastardly and Muttley’s footsteps and ‘stopping the piegon’!
