Round 1 Podium for Team Farécla G3Pro
Team Farécla G3Pro (Stewart and Craig) opened the account with a 3rd place podium at Round 1 at Buckmore Park. The pair narrowly missed out on 2nd by only one second after a grueling 150 laps race (equivalent of 110 miles!) with 26 teams competing for glory.
But back to the beginning…
The day started well with Stewart qualifying a respectable 5th in class. The race start was hectic as ever with the team coming under fire right from the off; Stewart unfortunately came off second best over the opening lap which saw him drop down to 23rd place.
Undeterred, the drivers went about fighting their way back through the pecking order and by the halfway mark were back up to 10th place and in contention.
Pushing to maximum, the duo made a couple of unforced errors during the race which saw a podium finish look very unlikely, but as ever their ‘never say die’ attitude ensured they’d rode back up the order and finished the opening race in 3rd place.
Driver Craig said: “This time last year we finished in 3rd place but were disqualified for being 100 grams under weight, this year we finish in 3rd place but this time round we get to keep all the points! We are satisfied with the result – we were close to 2nd place at the end but it wasn’t to be. Roll on round 2.”

Team G3Pro (Matt and Barry) had a not so successful day at the office. With the team full of expectation and after an extensive pre-session testing program, both drivers were looking to make an impression in the nearly promoted clubman category, but it wasn’t to be and with an under-performing engine the duo finished towards the back 12th in class.
Driver Matt said: “We had a shocking day; I don’t think we could have achieved much more than we did and I guess in racing you just have days like that! I’m thrilled our sister team were able to bring home some silverware so well done to those guys. For us, we now focus on the next race.”
The teams are now looking towards round 2 held on both Saturday (26th March for endurance racing) and Sunday (27th March for a one-off sprint race), the latter of which will actually see three of the drivers pitted against one another in singles competition. All of which is being held at their home circuit of Rye House Raceway, Hertfordshire.
