Race Preview from Team G3: Ellough Park
This Saturday, Team G3 head to East Anglia for Round 4 of the Club 100 Endurance Championship.
Another new challenge, it will be the first time all of us have raced together at the Ellough Park circuit. A top three finish in class is once again on our to-do list as well as improving on our current 5th place standing.
We had a great race at Rye House at the end of April – you can watch all highlights here – where we were running at the front of the pack for the majority of laps with some special overtaking moves.
Admittedly, we had a disappointing end after another driver misjudged a corner, taking Barry off the circuit at high speed when we were in second place with only 17 laps to go! We still finished the race in fifth place and scored solid points. So even though we missed out on our first podium, there were so many positives to come out of the race. Most importantly, our team work and pit stops have improved enormously.
Ellough Park is a tight circuit and will be a massive workout which, at more than 200 laps, is Lowestoft’s answer to Monaco (perhaps without the yachts, movie stars and casinos of course). We have a solid strategy in place and we just need to keep out of trouble to get a another good result.
