Club 100 2014: Kicking off at Buckmore Park
Team G3 head to Buckmore Park for the first of nine rounds in the 2014 Club 100 Endurance Championship. Matt Hale sets out the team’s goals and explains more about the series they’re entering.
Just three short months have passed since we won our third place podium in the final race of the 2013 championship. Now, this new season will see an evolution of the championship with a fleet of newer & quicker karts, some new circuits, and a change in race duration to challenge drivers further with their racing ability and strategies.
The 2013 season was always going to be a testing year and one where we had to learn quickly to be at the right end of the pack. If you followed our progress last season then you’ll know the highs and lows we went through – if not, you can check out all of our head-cam videos and see exactly how we saw it during every single race.
Going into 2014, we feel confident in our ability to compete for podiums round after round. As a minimum our goals focus on finishing the championship in the top three, improving on last year’s result, but we’re really going for a run at the title. This isn’t going to be easy given the talent out on the track, but we are putting all of our experience and enthusiasm into getting the best out of the kart and ourselves.
Sadly for me, I’ll be on the other side of the world – well not so sad as it is 32 degrees and sunny in Australia. These won’t be the conditions which Stewart and Barry face on Sunday but I’ll be with them in spirit, especially as I’ll be flying the G3 flag at a race at Kingstone Park raceway in Queensland where I’m hoping to lead the way in collecting silverware for the team and G3.
