Challenges at Snetterton
The latest round of the BTCC at Snetterton was another dramatic weekend of racing. After a successful fifth round at Croft, where Team HARD’s Tom Onslow Cole won his thirty-sixth podium finish, Snetterton was a prime opportunity for Tom to climb the championship leader board.
In qualifying Tom struggled for position, and found himself finishing in 14th place. This left him in a difficult starting position for race one. In a hard fought race, he climbed the leader-board to 12th place, a marginal improvement from qualifying.
In race two Tom was clearly determined to improve on the results of the first race. Despite some nerve-racking driving, and a tussle that brought out the safety car, Tom moved up into a finishing position of 9th. Now back on form, an improvement in race three seemed possible!
The third race continued as the second race had ended. A dramatic collision in the very first lap saw race and championship leader Jason Plato roll his car. The race was restarted only for another crash to happen almost immediately! Amongst the chaos of the third race, Onslow-Cole struggled for position, and finished in a disappointing 17th place.
Despite such a tough couple of races, Tom still sits in 9th position in the overall championship standings. There have certainly been some lessons learnt from Snetterton but we are sure that he will improve his performance in time for the next round at Knockhill on the 25th August!
