BTCC Season Finale: Brands Hatch Round Up
The 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship saw a fantastic finale at Brands Hatch. With treacherous conditions on the grid, Andrew Jordan fought off close competitors Gordon Shedden and Jason Plato and won this year’s championship!
Meanwhile, G3 Pro sponsored team TeamHARD were also seeing intense end-of-season racing, especially from Jack Goff who was in the RCIB Insurance Racing Vauxhall Insignia. He managed his best race yet, working his way up from 17th up to 6th by race 2; and in race 3, he pushed even further and put in a valiant attempt to get past Shedden into P1! The two competed well ahead of the other racers on the grid, and during the battle Goff was constantly mindful of a clean, crash-less overtake – but Shedden put up an aggressive defence and Goff came an astonishing 2nd. With this final result, Goff was bumped up to 17th place in the standings and 13th in the Independents’ Trophy.
Team mates and BTCC newcomers Tom Barley and Aiden Moffat both had a great weekend and managed to bring their cars home safely after their three races, finishing 23rd and 20th; Moffat also came 8th in the Jack Sears Trophy for the S2000 class, a memorable achievement as the BTCC now looks set to drop the racing class altogether before the start of the 2014 season.
Overall, it’s been a highly eventful season for TeamHARD. With plenty of new signings and Tom Onslow-Cole’s transfer over to Airwaves Racing, the team have been dynamic in their strategy throughout all 30 races. They have performed remarkably, coming 7th and 8th in the Independents’ Class out of a total 20 teams (PPCGB.com/Kraftwerk Racing and RCIB Insurance Racing cars).
Matt Hale from Team G3 comments: “TeamHARD‘s transfer over to NGTC has had its highs and lows, with multiple podiums and strong development of both the cars and racers. The team is now looking strong for 2014, with the championship title always on the horizon.”
G3 Pro would like to congratulate the entire TeamHARD team and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for the 2014 championship!
