Tough luck for Tom at Brands Hatch
The British Touring Car Championship kicked off last week at Brands Hatch and the Team HARD were out in force with 3 cars on the grid. Tom Onslow-Cole led after qualifying in 17th position on Saturday and then ranked 14th by the end of Race 1 the following day. Race 2 saw him out of action with tweaks being made to the suspension of his PPCGB.com/Kraftwerk VW Passat but he was back in for the finals and secured16th position overall.
Matt Hale, representative for G3 Pro and Team G3 racer, comments on the action: “The qualifying round on Saturday was the first time Tom’s car ran a racing lap, so he did great all things considering. The team are planning testing and developments over the next two weeks and we expect him to move up the pack very quickly.”
In his BTCC interview, Tom said: “Our car is not finished yet by any means. We will be fitting a second phase of bodywork to help with the aerodynamics. At Brands Hatch, we ran with the mock-up kit so we could get the ball rolling, but there are upgrades we can do there. We also had an issue with getting cold air to the intercooler to make sure that the charge temperature of the turbo was at its peak, so there is a bit more power to come from the engine as well. These are all things you expect with a new car, and once they are cured we will be ready to shine.”
The next round of racing will take place at Donington Park on 21st April.
